On March 9, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Superintendent Peter Smith sent the following message via SchoolMessenger to J-D families and staff.
Dear Jamesville-DeWitt High School families and staff,
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding the threatening note found in the J-D High School bathroom yesterday, March 8. Our School Resource Officer and the Town of DeWitt Police were immediately made aware of the incident, and the school district and police department have been working together to investigate the incident and review school surveillance video.
The police department has communicated with the school district that through their investigation, they feel there is no credible threat to our students or school staff. The school district and police department will continue to work together to ensure that the incident is investigated as thoroughly as possible, and we will continue to work collaboratively in keeping school and student safety a top priority.
As an added precaution, the DeWitt Police Department will have extra patrols around the school through Friday.
Sincerely,
Peter Smith
