The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District’s special education classroom, The Tecumseh Learning Pad, recently raised a record-breaking $7,273 during its 2024 lemonade stand fundraiser! The funds will be split between Central New York Autism Society of America and ARISE Adaptive Design.
“The gratitude I feel in my heart to the J-D community goes far beyond words! The gift of being able to bring our past and present students and families together across the district is so important! You are all the reason why this lemonade stand is so successful. The energy in the building was filled with so much love, so many smiles and even some tears (happy of course, I had my fair share). Thank you to the best Learning Pad team who always works so hard and are the best memory makers I know. CNYASA and ARISE are going to be able to continue to support so many individuals with the generosity of our schools, district and community,” shared Special Education Teacher Megan Ames.
The lemonade stand is held in April to coincide with National Autism Acceptance Month. It was held throughout the district April 1-5. The main stand took place at Tecumseh Elementary School on Friday, April 5.
To prepare for the fundraiser, Learning Pad students helped prepare hundreds of lemonade bottle kits and created Autism acceptance pins. The lemonade stand also served as an educational experience and opportunity to use social skills while interacting with customers. Special thanks to Wegmans and Target for donating supplies.
Learning Pad students will also take part in the Autism Acceptance Walk, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Jamesville Beach.
Amazing job to everyone involved! We’re so proud of The Tecumseh Learning Pad!
