The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently recognized 11 Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District students for their performance on the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Three seniors—Sarah Kornfeld, Ewan Middleton and Joseph Picciano—were named Semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Competition. Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 451,000 Merit Scholarships awards, worth more than $1.8 billion that will be offered next spring.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements and advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Over 90% of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
