We would like to congratulate Jamesville-DeWitt High School senior Merrill Charles on receiving the Shawna Marzella Memorial Scholarship.
Shawna Marzella was an incredibly dedicated special education teaching assistant at Tecumseh Elementary School for 19 years. She supported so many J-D students through her commitment, hard work, and advocacy.
Merrill Charles was one of those students. He graduated from Tecumseh’s special education Learning Pad in 2015. He will walk the graduation stage with senior classmates at the Civic Center on Sunday, June 23.
“Merrill is an incredible young man who has always demonstrated hard work with strong character, commitment and courage. His entire Tecumseh family is so proud of him,” said special education teacher Megan Ames.
Merrill was awarded the scholarship during J-D High School’s senior awards night on Thursday, June 8. The scholarship is funded by a J-D Faculty Association Red Out Day and Marzella family and friends.
The Charles family would also like to express their gratitude to the district and the Marzella family for this recognition.
Congratulations Merrill!
