Moses DeWitt Elementary School has stepped up to promote unity and compassion by participating in the 14th annual Great Kindness Challenge this week. The global initiative began in 2012 as a way to address bullying and promote respect, connection, and compassion.
Moses DeWitt students have been tasked with completing as many acts of kindness as possible. That’s where Cafe Kubal on East Colvin Street comes in. Students have colored and decorated 1,000 coffee sleeves and cups with positive messages and artwork which are being used by the coffee shop to spread kindness throughout the community.
“We are so thrilled to partner with Cafe Kubal in order to spread kindness throughout our community as well within our school walls. Our students were beyond excited to be able to spread cheer with kind words and art,” shared Moses DeWitt Elementary School Social Worker Sarah Hayes.
Matt Godard, the founder and CEO of Cafe Kubal, says customers have really appreciated the encouraging art and words by the students. It has been such a success that Godard and Hayes have already discussed making the partnership an annual tradition for the challenge.
Moses DeWitt’s kindness initiative is also extending to a local organization. The school will wrap up the Great Kindness Challenge by making care packages for the Rescue Mission.
