The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District will release its pre-K letter of intent March 1. This is a free full-day program, and children selected to participate must attend the program five days per week.
The district is anticipating one pre-K classroom at Jamesville Elementary and Moses DeWitt Elementary. There will be two pre-K classrooms at Tecumseh Elementary. Additional classrooms may open through community-based partnerships.
Each pre-K class will be staffed by one certified teacher and one teaching assistant. The district will also provide transportation on the regular elementary school bus runs.
To be eligible for the free full-day prekindergarten program, children must:
-
- Be four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2023 (birth date must fall between 12/2/18 through 12/1/19);
- Be a J-D school district resident; and
- Received all required immunizations
In the event that more applications are received than can be accommodated, the district will conduct an open lottery in which children will be selected at random. Parents/guardians/caregivers whose children are selected for the program will be mailed a registration packet.
