The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District offers a full day UPK program for four-year-old children residing in the district. There is no cost to attend this program. Costs associated with the program will be covered by funds allocated to the district via New York State Preschool funding.
The program follows a separate registration process from grades K-12. Families of eligible students must complete a letter of intent which will appear on the district website on Monday, Jan. 6.
To be eligible for the program, a child must have a date of birth between 12/2/2020 and 12/1/2021, be a Jamesville-DeWitt resident, and have all required immunizations.
This is a full day program and children must attend the program five days per week. Transportation on the regular elementary bus runs will be provided.
The district is anticipating one UPK classroom at Jamesville Elementary School, one classroom at Moses DeWitt Elementary School, two classrooms at Tecumseh Elementary School, and additional classrooms through our partnerships with the Rothschild Early Childhood Center (RECC) and Little Lukes Preschool and Childcare Center. Each classroom will have a maximum number of 18 students.
In the event that more applications are received than can be accommodated in a particular school, the district will conduct a lottery in which children will be selected at random. Any student not selected for a seat in their elementary school will be offered a seat at the RECC or Little Lukes until capacity is reached.
Applications for students will be organized by building attendance areas. For example, students living in the Jamesville attendance area will be put in the lottery for seats in the UPK classroom at Jamesville Elementary.
Families or guardians with questions about the UPK program can contact the district Registrar at 315-445-8300.
