The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District is rolling out a new visitor management system at all five school buildings to increase safety. The Raptor system is part of the district’s larger I.P. Paging and Access Controls Project.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 15, all visitors will be required to present valid government issued identification, like a driver’s license, when entering J-D schools. No exceptions will be made.

ID cards will be scanned by the Raptor Visitor Management System, which checks registered sex offenders and other databases that may include information on custody orders and individuals prohibited from visiting school grounds. Any issues that are identified will be handled discreetly by a school administrator in accordance with the district’s Code of Conduct. The process takes less than one minute to complete.

Those cleared by the Raptor system, will get a visitor badge that must be worn at all times. The badge will show the visitor’s photo, name, date and time of entry, as well as the destination in the building. Badges must be returned at the end of each visit. Personal information will not be stored by the district or the Raptor system.

If you have any questions about the Raptor Visitor Management System please contact building principals.
