J-DMS student wins regional spelling bee for third consecutive year

We’re proud to share that J-D Middle School 8th grader Simran Sanders won the 2025 Post-Standard | syracuse.com Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 22. She was among 19 spellers who competed in 13 rounds. She won in the final round after correctly spelling “pomegranate.” This marks Simran’s third consecutive year winning the regional spelling contest.

She wasn’t the only J-D student who competed. Congrats to 5th grader Isabella Gingold who made it to round 6, misspelling the word “primogeniture.”

Simran will compete in the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee at the Gaylord National Resort just outside Washington, D.C. at the end of May.
