COVID-19 surveillance testing on Nov. 1 yields one positive result

On Nov. 8, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Superintendent Peter Smith sent the following letter via SchoolMessenger to J-D families and staff. It was followed with an update that one Tecumseh Elementary School student did test positive.

Dear Jamesville-DeWitt families and staff,

On Friday, Nov. 1 we completed surveillance testing for COVID-19. Approximately 140 students and staff were tested. I am pleased to report that all of the tests were negative.

Thank you to those families and staff that have volunteered to be tested.  We hope you will consider having your child participate in this important testing program.  If you have any questions or concerns about the surveillance testing, please reach out to me or your child’s building principal.

Please remember that each week the district shares on the website the number of positive COVID-19 cases reported, including how many students and staff are quarantined as a result of each positive case and in which building the individual who tested positive is based.

Sincerely,

Peter Smith
