Surveillance testing yields no positive COVID-19 cases

On Sunday, Sept. 19, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Superintendent Peter Smith sent the following letter to J-D families and staff.

Dear Jamesville-DeWitt families and staff,

On Friday, September 17, we completed surveillance testing for COVID-19 for the first time.  Approximately 190 students and staff were tested using the process described below.  I am pleased to report that all of the tests were negative.  Our goal is to test approximately 10% of the population each week for the foreseeable future.

We hope you will consider having your child participate in this important testing program. The health and safety of our students, staff and community is our highest priority, and we greatly appreciate your support during these challenging times. If you have any questions or concerns about the surveillance testing, please reach out to me or your child’s building principal.

Sincerely,

Peter Smith
