Students commit to continue athletic careers in college

Seven Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District students plan to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level during the 2022-23 school year.

The J-D Athletic Department plans to host a National Letter of Intent ceremony on Nov. 10 for the seven student-athletes to sign their letters of intent and be individually recognized.

A National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and a National Letter of Intent member institution. By signing the letters, prospective student-athletes agree to attend the institution full-time for one academic year, and the institution agrees to provide athletics financial aid for one academic year.

During the J-D ceremony, each student will have the opportunity to talk about why they selected the college they plan to attend, their intended major of study, the sport they intend on playing and the people that have supported them over the years.

The following students plan to participate:

  • Sofia Bebla; Fordham University; Women’s Swimming
  • Katherine Dorazio; Syracuse University; Women’s Softball
  • Theresa Grosso; LeMoyne College; Women’s Lacrosse
  • Abigail McGuire; Providence College; Women’s Diving
  • Lauren Parker; D’Youville College; Women’s Lacrosse
  • Ty Parker; D’Youville College; Men’s Volleyball
  • Kate Wilcox; Winthrop University; Women’s Lacrosse
