Back to school update

On Sunday, Jan. 2, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Superintendent Peter Smith sent the following letter via SchoolMessenger to J-D families and staff.

Dear Jamesville-DeWitt Families and Staff,

Clearly COVID-19 continues to pose significant challenges for our community.  As I mentioned earlier in the week, on Monday we expect to receive enough in-home tests for each student in the district.  When those tests are received we will communicate how to get a test should you want one.

Throughout the past several days we have been monitoring the number of positive cases reported for staff and students.  At this point, we are able to continue with in-person learning for all schools.  We will continue to monitor this information and will communicate any changes to our learning plan should that be necessary.

In the meantime, remember that masks, social distancing, surveillance testing and most importantly, staying home when not feeling well are key strategies to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools.

I hope that you and your family have been able to enjoy a safe and peaceful holiday season, and I look forward to seeing students and staff tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Peter Smith
