The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District has begun the search for a new Moses DeWitt Elementary School Principal. The Board of Education approved current Principal Mary Sylvester’s request for retirement at its Monday, Feb. 10 meeting. She will continue to serve the school until mid August.
“For the past thirteen years Mary Sylvester has tirelessly worked to support the growth and development of students at Moses DeWitt. We wish all the best as she embarks on this next chapter of life,” shared Superintendent Dr. Peter Smith.
The position is currently posted on the district website and on multiple job search platforms. Applications will close Monday, March 17.
The applications will be reviewed by a small team of administrators. Screening and final interviews will be conducted by a diverse group of stakeholders including administrators, staff, and parents/caregivers.
The district will also use a ThoughtExchange to collect feedback from the community. The link to the exchange will be shared once available.
Final interviews are expected to take place at the end of the month. The hope is to select the best candidate for the position by April and make an appointment in early May.
