Memorial bench installed at Moses DeWitt Elementary School

Moses DeWitt Elementary School has a special new addition, a memorial bench in honor of Sheila Blanchard Considine. Shelia was a longtime psychologist at the school. She passed away in 2013. The Blanchard/Aloi/Phalon family recently donated the bench to honor her time and impact at the school.

“…It was a place filled with teachers, students, and families she truly loved working with. She supported countless children in getting the support they needed, and was passionate about providing that care and attention to the families of Moses DeWitt,” said Shelia’s daughter, Julia Blanchard Aloi.

Julia was invited to the school for a dedication ceremony. She read a story about love with some help from her daughter, Grace, who is a first grade student at Moses DeWitt. They also explained the purpose of the new bench to Grace’s classmates.

“We hope this bench will serve as a place for students to make friends, share stories, admire the beautiful tree it sits beneath, and most of all, as a space where we can remember a very special Moses DeWitt staff member, friend, mom, and grandma,” shared Julia.
