As the cast and crew of Jamesville-DeWitt’s spring musical “9 to 5” prepared to wow the crowd, they also decided to give back. It was a win-win opportunity when they realized the writer of the musical, Dolly Parton, is also the driving force behind the Imagination Library.
The early literacy program promotes the love of reading and learning by delivering children from birth to 5 a new, age-appropriate book in the mail each month. The program is free and available nationwide. We’re lucky to have a chapter right here in Onondaga County.
Students set a donation table up outside of the auditorium during each performance. In total, the students raised $2,275!
Onondaga County Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program Director Kimberly Kemp and Central New York Community Foundation Vice President Dr. Frank Ridzi recently visited cast and crew members to thank them with a special poster and share how their donation will positively impact local children.
