The National Honor Society at J-D High School has been working hard to make this year’s Hoops for Courage fundraiser for Camp Good Days extra special. The event coincides with the J-D Varsity boys basketball game against Whitesboro scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. and is dedicated in memory of Ethan Rivard (‘21).
Ethan touched the lives of many in our school community. He defeated two types of brain cancer before battling a third and passed away on July 22, 2023. Ethan and his two siblings have all visited and benefitted from Camp Good Days.
The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life threatening challenges through residential camping experiences held at their beautiful facility on Keuka Lake. They also offer year-round activities and events in Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo.
All programs and services provided by Camp Good Days are free of charge for participants. This is only possible because of the support and generosity of events like Hoops for Courage.
Some campers will be in attendance Saturday serving as honorary basketball players and cheerleaders. The event will feature basket raffles and a 50/50 raffle. Special shirts have also been sold.
