Jamesville-DeWitt High School had a strong showing at DECA Regionals on Tuesday, Dec. 19. We earned a total of 5 first place finishes! Additionally we placed in the top five in 12 other events, taking home awards in over half of the events.
DECA is a high school and college program for students interested in business. The organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
A DECA competition includes three levels: district, state, and international. Each competitor chooses to compete in one of four career clusters: Marketing, Business Management & Administration, Hospitality & Tourism, or Finance. Choosing topics within each career cluster, all participants compete in two role plays and a cluster test. Students also have the option to participate in projects that focus on professionalism within writing, as well as presentation and public speaking skills. Members may receive medals for each part of the event as well as place in their event to advance on to the next level of competition.
