Two Jamesville-DeWitt High School students are being welcomed into the 2023-24 Puerto Rican-Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PRHYLI) Syracuse Delegation.
Junior Stefanie Cervantes and Senior Rashelle Torres-Mendoza were notified by PRHYLI in a letter Wednesday, November 15. The institute says being selected speaks to the leadership potential these students possess.
The overall purpose of the PRHYLI is student empowerment and leadership development. Student delegates also take part in educational trips, including one to the Assembly Floor of the New York State Capitol Building where they get to deliver arguments in favor or against current bills in the legislative process.
Graduating delegates can earn scholarships, presented on behalf of the SOMOS, Inc. To date, SOMOS, Inc. has provided more than $600,000 in scholarships.
Congratulations to Stefanie and Rashelle on this achievement!
