The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District offers a free full day prekindergarten program for four-year-old children residing in the district. Costs associated with the implementation of the program will be covered by funds allocated to the district via New York State Pre-School funding.
To be eligible for the program, children must
- Be four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022;
- Be a J-D school district resident; and
- Received all required immunizations.
The district is anticipating one pre-K classroom in each of its three elementary schools, and each classroom would have a maximum of 18 students. Additional classrooms may be opening through community-based partnerships.
This is a full-day program, and children selected to participate must attend the program five days per week. Each pre-K class will be staffed by one certified teacher and one teaching assistant. The district will provide transportation on the regular elementary school bus runs.
In the event that more applications are received than can be accommodated, the district will conduct an open lottery in which children will be selected at random.
If you are interested in having your child participate in the pre-kindergarten program for the 2022-23 school year, please complete and return the form no later than 4 p.m. May 9, 2022.
Children will be randomly selected for pre-K through a computerized lottery system. Parents/guardians/caregivers whose children are selected for the program will be mailed a registration packet beginning on May 13.
